THE SHAWS AND MACROBS TRILOGY

Two clans on the brink of war. A king hell-bent on keeping the peace. Let the forced marriages begin.

Book 1 Highland Feud by Emma Prince

Catlin MacRob is used to being called headstrong. In fact, she’s earned the title. So when news arrives that she will be forced to wed Laird Broden Shaw in one month’s time if their clans’ feud is not laid to rest, she knows what she must do: single-handedly solve the mystery of her missing clanswoman, which has pushed both clans to the verge of war. Easy enough. But when Broden comes upon her snooping on his lands, his steely blue stare sends her wits scattering, and his nearness throws her best-laid plans into disarray. Can she uncover the truth before she loses her heart to the enemy?

It is madness for Broden to work with Catlin to diffuse their clans’ hostility. Yet he finds himself beguiled by the wee hellion’s blade-sharp mind and stubborn determination to get to the bottom of the feud. But as they investigate her missing clanswoman further, Broden stumbles upon a dangerous secret that could unravel their efforts at peace. As Laird, it is his duty to protect his clan above all else, yet his heart threatens to betray him. With time running out, can they stop an all-out war before it’s too late?

“Bring the priest.”

Book 2 Highland Seduction by Cecelia Mecca

The king’s punishment is swift and sure. Clan MacRob’s second-in-command will wed the sister of his most bitter enemy. Not when another full moon passes, as was King Alexander’s original decree. Instead, Ainsley Shaw will immediately know the consequences of her clansmen’s actions.

Another brawl, this one at the laird’s wedding, has brought consequences greater than any other in their clan’s history. Two enemies are now joined as man and wife. A circumstance Ainsley Shaw and Tor MacRob refuse to accept.

Traveling to nearby Berwick as they search for clues to a mystery that, if solved, could end their clans’ feud, the new bride and groom cling to one small hope—that their marriage can be annulled. Their union erased, as if it never existed.

Except, with each passing day, the bride and groom’s resolve not to consummate their marriage grows weaker. Their discoveries force both Tor and Ainsley toward a truth that threatens to destroy their newfound love, as well as the very families they aim to protect.

The feud started with them, and one way or another, they will end it.

Twelve years ago, Rhona Shaw was forced to marry the devil Duncan MacAdder instead of Royce MacRob, and hatred erupted between the Shaw and MacRob clans. Now Rhona is free, and she knows only she and Royce can end the feud—by getting married. Their previous passion flares when they meet again, but old anger is hard to dispel.

Royce has spent the last twelve years simultaneously trying to convince himself he hates Rhona for marrying another and refusing to consider any other woman as his wife. And her proposal sends him reeling. But he knows she’s right—only they can convince King Alexander that their clans have made peace and he should stop his interference.

But villainy from a surprising source, a devastating revelation, and long-nurtured resentments threaten the happiness they’ve waited for so long

The Shaws and MacRobs trilogy follows three couples as they find unexpected love in the midst of an ongoing clan conflict. While each couple gets an HEA at the end of their story, the mystery behind the feud carries across all three books. For the best experience, reading the series in order is strongly recommended.

What’s up for 2022?

Well, things are still chaotic in my world. I’m still trying to write 6 novels a year. I’ve released many of my novels in German and Spanish. Love all my new readers!

But Covid still dominates everything I do because I am at high-risk. I’d prefer to spend most of my extra time with my husband, my kids and grandkids, but I have to cross many states to accomplish that. I’m trying to stay healthy after a couple of rounds with a nasty sinus infection. And I’m still hopeful for a trip to Disney with the twins after cancelling the last two reservations we had because of Covid.

Thank goodness I have my writing!

But here’s what I’m hoping to see released in 2022:

  1. Book 4 -the last book in Highland Healers. It’s Tara’s story. This will be released late February.
  2. A new trilogy with two author friends and you will LOVE it. It’s not time travel, but straight Scottish Medieval about two feuding clans. Great fun! Look for this in April. You’ll have to wait a bit more to find out WHO the two author friends are!
  3. A new series will come later this year. Scottish Medieval, but NOT the Grants or Ramsays. A new trilogy.
  4. I’m taking the summer off. Yes, I did say that, though if I write anything it would be a Summerhill novella. I’m not promising…
  5. I’d like to finish the Soulmate Chronicles. We’ll see.
  6. A Ramsay Christmas novella-but I have no idea who or what yet!.

That looks like I’m planning to write 8 novels…nope. Three are novellas, and I doubt I’ll do all 3. I’ll probably do 2, but I can’t say which two at this point. And I didn’t say I’d finish the new trilogy this year. But I will start it!

Those are my hopes. It doesn’t always happen the way I’d like, but we’ll see!

My biggest hope? That I finally make it to Disney World with the twincesses. I’ve canceled twice because of Covid. Keep your fingers crossed for me in late February!

Here’s to a better year than last year when it comes to Covid!!!

I really would like to go out to dinner again…

Where to after Highland Healers?

So every once in a while, I have to write something different. Once it was a Regcncy, another time it was a paranormal, and on one occasion, I even felt the need to write a contemporary romance or two.

It’s happening again. I’m feeling that need to write something different, so I polled my readers and over 500 of you gavc me your opinion and your suggestions.

Thank you for responding to my question!

The most frequent response fell into two categories:

  1. Most of you still love the Grants and Ramsays
  2. Even more of you would like to see a NEW Scottish Medieval series.

Other points from your responses:
-More requests for a Summerhill book than I expected. I may be writing another one next summer!
-very FEW requests for Soulmate Chronicles. I may push that back until 2023

So here’s what my plan is:
Next book-#4 and final in Highland Healers. Yet unnamed, but it will be Tara and Shaw’s story and it’s a great one! I thought I might add two more to this series, but the series didn’t develop that way, so I’ll stick with the four and end Highland Healers

Christmas novella- working title- Rescued by a Highlander’s Angels -This is set at the end of the Battle of Largs. Many have asked how Alex learned to be so patient. You’re about to find out. You’ll love seeing the twins at the age of four, Kyla at one and a half, and Loki is back. You’ll also see a few angels, but that’s all I’m saying. Trust me, you will love this story.  I hope to have this up for preorder in November.

After these two books, I’m starting a new series that has been dancing around in my head. It’s a Medieval Scottish, but no Grants or Ramsays will appear. All new characters. Planned to be a 3 or 4 book series.

I think I might write a Summerhill novel over the summer. I have two plotted out, just haven’t written them.

Unfortunately, there was little interest in the last of the Soulmate series. Not that I won’t write it, but you’re interest, or lack thereof, made me push it until 2023.

Let me also add (so you won’t panic!) that I’ll never stop writing about the Grants and Ramsays. There are so many characters left- the orphans, the children, someone even suggested Paddy get his own book.  Not sure I’m willing to go that far, but never say never! Here are some of the comments I received:
  • More about the Menzies
  • More about the Camerons
  • Kenzie, Kenzie, Kenzie!
  • Elyse, Riley, the mystical group
  • Alison and Catriona
  • Lise and Liliana
  • Steenie
  • Maeve
  • the Ramsay third generation
  • And the ones who were not mentioned or only by a couple:  Tad, Nellie, Brin, Tomag, Maitland, Nari, Simone, Beatris, Geva, Emma, Mariana, Crisley, Isbeil, Drystan, Broc, Paden, Jewell, Alaric, Merelda, Maryell, Ami, Lucas, Kara, Tiernay, Terric, Henry.

The list is endless.

And there is a STRONG possibility that I might enter into another multi-author collaboration next year, but that’s still a secret.

Happy reading!

NEW SERIES! HIGHLAND HEALERS

I’m so excited about this new series because I absolutely love the new cover and I love going back to Ramsay land. But it’s also fun to start in a new land-Black Isle.

But you all wish to know how many books and which characters will be in this series, so I’ll give you my best guess.

Here we go!

  1. Brigid and Marcas-The Curse of Black Isle
  2. Jennet and Ethan
  3. Gisela and Padraig
  4. Tara and Shaw
  5. Riley Cameron
  6. Tad Menzie
  7. Elyse Menzie

This is only a guess. I don’t know exactly where this series will take me, but I think it will be fun! Expect a little faerie dust to be sprinkled about, especially when you get to Riley Cameron’s story and the finale of the series-Elyse Menzie.

That’s all I can tell you. The rest happens when I’m in the story.

AND just a clarification…this series takes place BEFORE Highland Swords. I know this confuses some people, but blame Covid. I had to go to the end last year, and it was before I filled in all the pieces. Now I’m writing back in the second generation, and I have so many characters left that I can go on for a while. But this series takes place in the 1290s, and Highland Swords was in the 1300s during Robert the Bruce’s busiest times.

Happy reading!

Elizabeth is here!

I just wanted to post a quick update so you know what’s next!

As you can see, Elizabeth and Gil’s story is Book 12 in The Highland Clan, a series that has no ending in sight. There is such a slew of characters to pull from that I will never end it! Padraig, Alison, Catriona, Riley, Brin, Tad, Tomag, Elyse, Steenie, Kenzie, Nari, just to name a few. The list truly is endless, and No, I don’t know whose story will be after the healers.

One series at a time is all I can handle, though I just had a wonderful idea for my next Christmas novel!

Next up is a trilogy or tetralogy of healers—Brigid, Tara, Jennet, and possibly another, though I’m not sure who the fourth will be.

So for our next adventure, I’m excited to be heading back to Ramsay land and off to a brand new setting.

All three lasses will be kidnapped, just like Brenna was, and I think you’ll love it!

Happy reading,

The Scot’s Deception- Is it the end?? Why, Keira? WHY!!

Some readers are upset at how I chose to end my most recent series—Highland Swords. SPOILER ALERT! Don’t read any further if you haven’t read it.

SPOILER ALERT AGAIN!!! And I mean it!

I’ve had more than one reader tell me it’s the best book of mine they’ve read, and others have said they’ll never read another book since Alex is gone.

Why did Alex Grant die?

This is going to sound really odd, but I think it came about when I was faced with my own mortality. Yep, it’s because of Covid.

I am an asthmatic, I am over sixty, and I carry a few extra pounds. I also have type A blood. So if I catch Covid, I don’t know if I’ll be able to beat it. I’m praying for a successful vaccination, and in the meantime I’m doing everything the CDC recommends.

When I published Rescued by a Highlander, introducing Alex and Maddie Grant, I didn’t think I’d sell more than ten books. So was I surprised? I still am. Blessed with all my beautiful readers, I then planned to make it a series of five books.

That’s right. Alex, Brenna, Robbie, Brodie, Jennie. That was it.

But life has a way of surprising you, both in our world and in fiction. Logan Ramsay came along and stole the show, and Torrian and Lily commanded attention too.

I had a few tell me to please take the children out of my romance books, but I love kids, and they’re part of life. Most of you agreed with me.

And so my brand was born. Hunky Highlanders, feisty lasses, and a slew of secondary characters that ranged from

1. spunky lads to

2. a wee lassie who couldn’t run to

3.a dog who helped his master learn how to walk again.

Should I mention the pony with attitude and the owl?

Thank you for staying with me this far!

I continued the series into the next generation, then flashed forward again to the next. It was then that I decided to give the series a decisive ending rather than leaving it open-ended. Part of it was my fear of getting ill, which might prevent me from providing a satisfying end to the series.

Yes, you can blame Alex’s passing on Covid and my fear of not getting the chance to write all the stories I wish to write.

The good news! I’m still here and so are many of you. Thank you!

Now I’ll go back to The Highland Clan.  Even though you have thirty-five novels to choose from that feature a Grant or a Ramsay, there will be more. The first two stories begging to be written are Elizabeth’s and Jennet’s.

I’m currently plotting Elizabeth’s story, and you can bet Alexander Grant is having his say about who his daughter will marry. Maddie has already pulled him aside to tell her he’s spoiling his lass. Alex, of course, doesn’t agree.

I think you’ll enjoy it when it comes out in early 2021.

Is it really the end? No, next up is A Christmas story—The Scot’s Angel—about Claray, a novella coming in early December.

But don’t vow to stay away because Alex won’t be in it.

He is.

It’s a novel about hope.

What’s happening?

The Scot’s Quest is out now and readers are loving Derric and Dyna! I just sent the fifth novel, yet unnamed, off to my editor, and there’s so much going on, I don’t know how to explain it all.

You’ll just have to wait until late October-the proposed release date!

I expect the audio for The Scot’s Quest in early October.

I will start my Christmas novella soon featuring Claray and an unnamed hero, though you already know him.

There was a wee tease about another hero in The Scot’s Quest, though no one has mentioned it to me yet. It was about Elizabeth’s husband. It will narrow the possible candidates for you.

Did YOU catch it????

After that, the beginning of 2021 will bring Elizabeth’s story.

After Elizabeth’s story?

Who knows???

What’s new????

This website!

I’ll tell you the other four things fresh on my mind.

  1. The Scot’s Quest-Dyna and Derric’s story- is with my editor and will come to you mid-August, hopefully.
  2. The fifth novel in The Highland Swords is in plotting stages right now. It takes place several years after The Scot’s Quest, and features Chrissa Grant (Kyla and Finlay’s daughter) as the heroine. Don’t know her? You need to read the Scot’s Pursuit.
  3. Thinking about a Christmas novella featuring Claray….just pondering it at this point.
  4. That makes probably six novels (or 5 plus a novella) in this series before I return to The Highland Clan with Elizabeth’s story. Sounds like 2021 to me!

Thanks for stopping by.

This new website is meant to streamline my work.

Yep, I’m getting older, and I prefer to spend my time writing rather than on busy work.

Stay safe! Wear a Mask!

10 reasons to love my new series-HIGHLAND SWORDS

HIGHLAND SWORDS

I can’t wait for you to dive into this next series of mine featuring Alex Grants’ grandbairns who were born on the same night to his children Jake, Jamie, and Kyla.

Here’s the prologue to remind you of the cousins’ remarkable birth:

And so the story was told for generation after generation.
Alasdair, dark-haired son of Jake (John) Grant and Aline Carron.
Elshander, fair-haired son of Jamie (James) Grant and Gracie Grant, and
Alick, fire-haired son of Kyla Grant and Finlay MacNicol.
All three were born on the same day, at the same exact time, all descendants of the renowned Alexander Grant, the finest swordsman in all the land.
When their time comes, the three shall lead Clan Grant together to be one of the strongest clans in Scottish history.

Their time has come.

If that isn’t enough to tempt you, here are ten more reasons:

  1. Alex Grant: Yes, he’s back. At nearly seventy years old, he has the wisdom to guide his grandbairns, and you’ll love him more than ever. Remember: he’s kind of immortal!
  2. Dyna: [pronounced like the Norse as Dee-nah] She’s the youngest of the four cousins, but she’s also the feistiest Grant lass yet, not to mention an archer trained by the great Gwyneth Ramsay. Every single person who has read this book has had the same response. They love Dyna.
  3. You’ll learn why the three lads are so special.
  4. Never have the Grants and their allies faced a more persistent enemy: the war between England and Scotland is well underway. Get ready for a nasty king, evil barons, braw Highlanders and their feisty women.
  5. Robert the Bruce himself will make an appearance.
  6. All of you who love the Highland spies in the Grant and Ramsay books (Logan, Gwyneth, Molly, etc.) will fall for Joya, the tough heroine of Book 2. She’s a spy for the Bruce, brave enough to venture into enemy territory.
  7. You’ll meet more charming bairns.
  8. The Scottish were known for their mysticism, and you’ll be introduced to a new seer and others with interesting abilities.
  9. What’s happened to the Grants and Ramsays since you saw them last? You’ll have to read each novel to find out more.
  10. We began with Alex, so it seems only appropriate to end with him. Get ready to meet a new Alex Grant you may love even more than the original (in book 2). Is that possible? We’ll see.

There will be at least 4 books in the series: Alasdair, Elshander, Alick, and Dyna. I plan to add 1 or two more, but nothing solid yet. I hope you enjoy Highland Swords!

What’s next?

Just a quick update to let you know what’s coming. I actually have three novels nearly completed, but I haven’t chosen the release dates yet.

  1. Trusting the Scot-#2 in the Soulmate Chronicles takes Graeme and Catherine back to Earth to continue their quest to earn the next level in angelship. They will be sorely tested again, this time by a piece of Scottish history that is so loathsome, many sites shy away from mentioning it. It is part of King Edward’s pursuit to conquer the Scots. It’s also a great illustration of why he wanted to be known as the Hammer of the Scots. This will probably be released the first week in February.
  2. The first in my new series called Highland Swords, the story of the three grandsons born on the same night to Alasdair Grant.  They are joined by Dyna, Connor and Sela’s daughter. The only thing I can tell you is that this series will have at least four books, but probably more. We shall see! The Scot’s Betrayal will release in the first half of March.
  3. A contemporary paranormal novella featuring Logan and Gwyneth Ramsay as ghosts who come forward in time to assist their descendants. They are every bit as strong as ghosts as they were in 13th century Scotland. This will release in mid-March.

It’s been a while, so I just wanted to let you know that good things are coming. I can’t wait!
